Beyond the Altared State

In this graduate thesis performance, Beyond the Altared State sought to reconcile sexuality, gender expression, and my Fundamental Christian upbringing. This 20-minute performance serves as a metaphor for spiritual metamorphosis and the union between body and spirit. Characterized by slow, body-centered movement inspired by a Japanese form of movement called Buhoh, the performance featured a drag alter-persona and an original sound piece.
